HOLBEIN affixes labels designed to indicate to the user of art materials
the nature of any health hazard.
ACMI (The Art & Creative Materials Institute, Inc.) Seals
ACMI has a consulting toxicology team at Duke University, who review the
complete formulas of products in the certification program. ACMI has two
labels to indicate to the user of art materials the nature of any material's
health hazard.
All HOLBEIN art materials are labeled in conformance with the ASTM D-4236
Health Standard and Labeling for Hazardous Art Materials (LHAMA)

The AP (Approved Product) Seal indentifies art materials that
are safe and that are certified in a toxicological evaluation
to contain no aterials in sufficient quantities to be toxic or
injurious to humans, including children, or to cause acute or
chronic health problems. |

[CL]Seal
The CL (Cautionary Label) Seal identifies products that are certified
to be properly labeled for any known health risks and with information
on the safe and proper use of these materials. |

Seal of Japan Art Materials
Japan Art Material's Association has the original standards and health seals
for domestic market.

It identifies products containing materials that may be harmful.
Please read carefully the labels and follow any precautions indecated.
Some items certified with "AP" seals by ACMI are labeled "X" seal
as well. It is because of the different standards between Japan
and U.S.A. The Japanese standards require to affix "X" seal
for all items that contain even a little of applicable materials. |
